The Sr. PC Specialist – Planning & Scheduling job in Calgary, AB. is a full-time contract position with our Oil and Gas client. Reporting to Manager Project Controls, you will be providing planning/scheduling service consulting with project team members on assigned project. With your experience and knowledge of project controls process and tools, you will be providing planning/scheduling, change management, progress and performance, critical path analysis, forecasting and reporting with focus on timeliness and accuracy.

Responsibilities of the Sr. PC Specialist – Planning & Scheduling job include:

- As a professional, you will be responsible to develop, maintain and continuously improve all aspects of project planning / scheduling for the successful PC service on assigned project
- Maintain Schedule Breakdown Structure (WBS), Work Packages, Calendars and the Resource assignments within the schedule for assigned project.
- Analyzes and evaluates schedule management involving the critical path method (CPM) of scheduling techniques, estimating change notices on schedule impact, change management process (scope changes, non-scope changes and potential changes), with impact on project finish date forecast.
- Responsible for the producing effective scheduling reports including “so what” analysis, forecast for the project and scenario based analysis.
- Setup and review field progress and performance systems and data analytics in line with the procedures of Project Execution Function
- Provides project progress & performance verification, compares planned, forecast and actual (Man-hours and time), planned and forecast hours, key quantity installed in the field establishing trends and explains variances;
- Identify future potential schedule forecast and makes a judgment regarding its impact. Ensures that schedule delays are reflected in the forecast costs
- Perform audit of actual claimed progress (deliverables, field quantities, etc.)
- Liaisons as required to support project teams to provide accurate and timely expert advice to the project leadership team that may allow proper and effective project steering
- Onboarding and continuous stewardship of Construction contractors to the Planning & Scheduling requirements for early compliance to the contractual controls obligations and standards.
- Coordinates the preparation, consolidation and analysis of project reports assuming responsibility for its overall accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
- Provides periodic schedule risk analysis and quality check for all project schedules, as well as supports implementation of any findings and any recommendations (e.g. Project Management of Change (PMoC), resource/shift adjustments)
- Supports development, maintenance and reporting of integrated system completions schedules working with Commissioning & Start-up
- Tracks schedule benchmarking data
- Collaborates with functional counterparts like PC team members, PC Estimating, Engineering, Construction, Supply Chain, Finance, and Project Governance to insure that necessary input from those functions are considered in the planning and reporting effort to achieve project goals.
- Working with contractors and functional counterparts, works weekly, bi-weekly and monthly reporting w.r.t schedule variance analysis, project progress & performance metrics, quantity tracking and forecasting, system completion metrics, and stewardship process per required timelines
- Leading contractor’s development and compliance to schedule best practices and procedures

Key Requirements:

- 12 or more years of direct project controls experience in the oil and gas construction sector covering field and home office.
- Project controls experience in Planning/Scheduling, project management of change, field progress systems and contractor performance management in a major projects environment is requirement
- Experience in various phases and stages of the projects will be an advantage
- Additional experience in commissioning & start-up, maintenance outages, and operations is an asset
- Additional experience in risk management is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or better
- Planning/Scheduling professional with depth and well-rounded project controls expertise, understanding of procedures and best practices
- Ability to support critical project needs and meeting tight deliverable deadlines
- Ability to translate schedule information into usable reports at different levels of the organization
- Good interpersonal, analytical, organizational & communication skills; both written and verbal, and positive teamwork approach with cross-functional partnership and collaboration
- A self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of Primavera version 7 or version 8, Microsoft Office applications like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Power BI, etc.
- Additional working knowledge of Primavera Risk and Acumen Fuse is an asset

Working Considerations:

- Term: Approx. 1 year – depending on business need
- Start Date January 2019
- Must be able to be hired as an independent contractor
- Candidates should be Calgary based but will travel and work at Project Construction site in
Ft. McMurray 4-5 Days a week. (camp/ flights included)
- OSSA/ BSO certificate for site access
