The Project Controls Analystjob is a full-time contract position in Fort McMurray, AB. Reporting to the team lead, project controls, you will support project execution by providing transactional financial support through the project life cycle. Candidates must reside in the Wood Buffalo Region for the duration of the contract as camp and flights are not applicable to this role

Responsibilities of the Project Controls Analyst job include:


Build and maintain the project work breakdown structures, and the project network and activities in SAP
Build purchase requests with required backup, vendor quotes, and in alignment with supply chain management standards
Enter forecast into SAP by assigned deadline
Prepare and submit month end journal entries to align with finance standards and timelines
Prepare, consolidate and analyze individual project or program reports for all partners
Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all finance policies, ensuring that spending is in line with capital and/or expense guidelines
Drive the closure of purchase orders, the financial close, the asset listing for Finance, and the SAP closure for the project
Protect the integrity of the investment decision by understanding the project scope and bring forward deviations as required
Support in building the long-range plans and budgets to develop a full understanding of the planned spending
Provide detailed reporting on funding progress, trending and forecasting


Key Requirements:



Five or more years of experience managing project financials, including month end, quarter end, and year-end reporting, and stewardship
Experience with project set up and effective use of the Project system in SAP
Degree or diploma in financial accounting or related technical or business function
American Association of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification or completed courses towards certification is preferred
Intermediate MS Office and SAP skills, specifically SAP Project system
You identify and tackle problems using a diversity of standard methods, demonstrating judgement in selecting, classifying, and analyzing data from different sources
You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems
You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and decision-making capacity



Working Considerations:


Position is site based, approximately 35 minutes from Fort McMurray, AB
Contract term is ASAP to end of December (potential to be renewed)
40 hours per week, M-F (with some OT and occasional weekend during the execution window)
Must be able to be hired as an independent contractor
BSO/ OSSA required for site access
Candidates must reside in Fort McMurray/ Wood Buffalo Region
