Roevin is currently in search of an Operating Manager with Roasting & Zinc Pressure Leach experience for our client in British Columbia. The successful candidate will be responsible for the production and maintenance activities of the Roasters and ZPL area(s) and ensuring that all safety, environmental, and training functions of Roasters and ZPL area(s) are operationalized. This is a permanent full-time position and with mandatory relocation (no FIFO available) and relocation assistance will be provided. While our client is in the mining industry we are open to candidates with plant experience of a chemical nature from industries such as Downstream Oil/Gas, Fertilizer, Utilities (Coal Fired).

The Operating Manager Responsibilities are:

• Establishes and promotes the maintenance of a Safe and Healthy working environment; conforms to the Corporate and Operational Health and Safety Programs; and ensures personal compliance.
• Develops and ensures systems, procedures, methods, standards and controls are created and followed which promote a workplace of predictive and proactive maintenance, foster operational efficiency, monitor compliance, mitigate risks, and achieve operating production targets for the business area.
• Ensures compliance with all of the Operation’s Environmental Policy and looks for opportunities for continual environmental improvement to air and effluent.
• Develops and implements innovative business solutions, provides leadership and oversight on projects, and collaborates with others on integrated solutions and initiatives.
• Develops and manages the leadership team and other staff including selection, training, mentorship, performance management and all other human resource practices.
• Provides career development mentorship to staff and creates plans to help staff achieve their career goals.
• Prepares annual operating budget, holds management accountable for identifying potential operating cost reductions, and works closely with leadership team to develop budgets for annual non-routine and capital projects.
• Develops working relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, providing expert advice on initiatives and ensuring the solutions are addressing business requirements.

The Operating Manager Qualifications are:

• BSc. in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and processing experience
• Minimum of 12 years progressively senior level experience in a processing environment
• Thorough knowledge of both process operations and process maintenance
• Experience with the budgeting process
• Excellent computer skills, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications
• Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities
