Nurse Practitioner

New

Our client is looking for a Nurse Practitioner for a 10-month contract with the primary responsibility of assuring the quality, integrity, and value of health services while working with an interdisciplinary team of OH&S professionals. The candidate will provide comprehensive primary and emergency care within their scope of practice, to workers on various client sites in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.


Key Accountabilities

Collaborates & consults with Occupational Health physician, Emergency Response Operations team, Classification Specialist and other interdisciplinary team members
Accountable for and supports other medical providers in all treatment room initiatives pertaining to employees and contractors working on sites and /or Lodges. These duties include initial treatment, follow-up treatment, modified work, health surveillance programs, health evaluation, health promotion, disease prevention and education within department protocols and guidelines and their scope of practice
Complete advanced, comprehensive and focused health assessments, diagnose health problems, prescribe medications to treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and order and interpret diagnostic investigations as required
Supports integrated disability case management and facilitates fitness to work assessments
Conducts Alcohol and Drug Screening within program procedures and standards
Support, participate, and lead the execution of health and wellness prevention and promotion education/training strategies (ie. Influenza clinics)

Qualifications

Three years of work experience as a nurse practitioner
Exceptional collaboration with other groups and the ability to work under pressure
Leadership experience, education or professional development
Current registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) as a Nurse Practitioner in family or adult practice
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, holding a Master of Nursing
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Experience in an industrial, emergency or critical care setting and experience with health surveillance programs
A high level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols, policies and procedures
Technical knowledge of health and wellness programs, standards and processes, including disability case management, return to work programs, medical surveillance and wellness programs
Technical knowledge of Cority and the Microsoft Office suite
