Junior Mechanical Engineer

We are recruiting to fill a Junior Mechanical Engineer Contract for our Client located in London, ON. The Junior Mechanical Engineer will provide efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component designs to assemblies that are more complex. Ideal candidates are able to work on all stages of a product, from research and development to design and manufacture, through to release.


* Design and development of cost-effective components and modifications to help improve safety and reliability

* Develop and prepare sketches and write technical reports

* Interpret specifications, prepare contracts, estimate costs and materials

* Completing documentation packages, drawing sets, examine drawings for conformity and errors

* Developing, testing and evaluating prototype designs

* Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers

* Making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments

* Managing projects using engineering principles and techniques

* Planning and designing new production processes

* Producing details of specifications and outline designs

* Recommending modifications following prototype test results

* Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design

* Considering the implications of issues such as cost, safety and end use

* Working with other professionals within and outside of the Engineering Dept.


* College/University education in Mechanical engineering

* 1-2 years experience in Hydraulic, Military and or Aerospace industry would be an asset

* Must meet all security requirements of the Controlled Goods Program, including Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident and a Clear Criminal Record

* Proficient in Autocad and Inventor

* Highly proficient in MS Office - Excel, Word. Knowledge of Lotus Notes an asset.

* Machining, welding and brazing knowledge

* Tube bending and processing knowledge

* Assembly processing knowledge

* Lean Manufacturing an asset

* High level of technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems

* IT skills, particularly computer-aided design
