Our large Oil & Gas client in Fort McMurray, AB is currently seeking an experienced Journeyman Instrument Technician to add to their team. This contract position will be responsible for providing input to design, developing maintenance plans and procedures for commissioning and startup.

As there will be no LOA, accommodations, or relocation reimbursement provided for this contract role, local candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities of the Journeyman Instrument Technician job may include:


Ensure that maintenance related requirements are accounted for in basic and detail design.
Review engineering documents, PFD's, P&ID's, plot plans.
Participate in model reviews, squad checks and safety related workshops and reviews (i.e. HAZOP's).
Provide feedback on operability and maintainability of the design.
Provide input design reviews and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).
Provide input to Instrumentation, Electrical, and Control Systems design.
Development maintenance procedures for new project equipment.
Identify special tools and test equipment that will be required to support maintenance.
Identification of training requirements for maintenance personnel.
Assist with development of commissioning/start-up plan, check lists, programs, schedules and acceptance testing requirements.
Liaise between construction and maintenance on maintenance issues.
Assist QA/QC and construction activities.
Participate in walk-downs and deficiencies list reviews.
Assist in developing the start-up plan.
Perform field startup activities such as rotations, loop checks and calibrations.
Provide technical support throughout commissioning and start-up.
Assist with project documentation handover and closeout.


Journeyman Instrument Technician Job Qualifications:


Journeyman Instrumentation Technician
Maintenance field experience in the execution of instrumentation work (specific experience in one or more business unit e.g. Upgrading, Utilities, Extraction, Hydro-transport and Material Handling would be an asset)
Exceptional ability to troubleshoot equipment and determine root causes of performance deficiencies
Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
Project and commissioning experience an asset
Some travel may be required
Strong time management and problem solving skills
Ability to be adaptable to changing priorities
Advanced written and verbal communication skills
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Must be able to successfully complete required pre-hire testing and Criminal Background check
