Human Resource Generalist

Our client is a supplier to the manufacturing market and take pride in their work culture and expertise. Reporting to the HR Manager, the position is responsible to create, maintain and drive a positive and sustainable Health and Safety Program, as well as Human Resource responsibilities. This role is “hands-on” where the incumbent will work directly with internal customers across the organization and be on the plant floor each day.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE – Human Resource Generalist

- 5+ years’ recent and relevant experience in Health and Safety, within a manufacturing environment
- Human Resource Management Certification and/or equivalent
- 2+ years of accident investigation and WSIB Claims Management experience
- Must have experience with Human Resources, specifically in Employee Relations
- Experience with payroll preparation (not processing) an asset
- Solid knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights and Privacy
- Display a “leadership” attitude when promoting safety and security by being an example at all times.
- Problem solving through identifying, gathering, analyzing and addressing problems in a timely manner.
- Must be able to make sound, logical and independent decisions when addressing sensitive employee issues


RESPONSIBILITIES - Human Resource Generalist

- Keep current in the knowledge of employment legislation and informs managers/supervisors as needed
- Provides support to employees, promoting an open- door environment
- Assists with developing and maintaining HR policies, procedures and related documents as needed
- Assists with development/implementation of performance evaluations as needed
- Maintain and update employee files (Training, Performance Reviews, Discipline, etc.)
- Assists with and prepares reports related to absenteeism, performance reviews status, turnover, vacation, etc.
- Must adhere to the OHSA and its’ regulations
- Must ensure the company always complies with OHSA
- Implement a sound safety program, as per WSIB and OHSA regulations
- Ensure all legislated and certification training is scheduled and completed on a timely basis
- Create, launch and manage H&S training programs as required
- Create, implement and maintain Health and Safety Procedures and related Forms
- Spearhead JH&SC meetings
- Must keep current with the laws and recommend new safety related initiatives when appropriate
- Lead in accident investigations and coach management on maintaining accurate documentation
- Manage all WSIB Claims and Return to Work Programs
- Prepares various documents, correspondence and presentations ass required
- Assists HR Assistant and HR Manager in recruitment and hiring when required
- Assist HR Assistant and HR Manager with orientation and onboarding as required
